Katie Lee Biegel will admit it’s a novel ground well Getting the Hallmark movie treatment is a “welcome surprise” as the book was fully released in 2011. The movie will premiere on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on August 21 at 9 PM. Lacey Chabert and Ektor Rivera.
“When I first heard that Hallmark wanted to start production on the film, Lacey was the first thing that came to my mind,” Katie said. HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY. “I really wanted him for the role because I’m a fan of him. I think he’s so great in Hallmark movies. I guess it’s like his 32nd Hallmark movie. She’s so good and believable and I think she’s a great actress. Ektor really embodies Ben and when you see the two of them together on screen, they have great chemistry.”
The film follows a chef named Emma who travels to Hawaii after a personal and professional setback. During his stay, he meets Ben, a handsome, reclusive surf instructor whose lessons help him regain his balance.
The cooking show host serves as executive producer and also makes a cameo in the movie. “It was an unexpected surprise,” Katie admitted. “I was so excited when they asked me to do a cameo. I’m playing myself so it wasn’t a real acting stretch. I was a little nervous as I couldn’t remember my lines, but our director was great. Made me feel comfortable. I was probably the most nervous when I had to shoot a scene with Lacey and talk to her one-on-one because most of them were judging a cooking contest, so hey, I felt like I could do that. But I was a little nervous when I had to not only criticize the food but give a little.”
on the journey to receive ground well Changes have been made to the TV screen. “It’s quite different in the movie version from the book version, but I like that,” Katie said. “I felt my characters took on a new light and a new dimension. It’s fun to see how the screenwriter shaped my original story to make it fit for a TV movie. I just love it. All those moments when I went to Hawaii and watched it and felt like I couldn’t believe it was happening all day pinched me.”
When? Kitchen the co-host watched the movie for the first time, it brought him to tears in the best way possible. “I cried. I was sobbing. I felt like I couldn’t believe this was really happening,” Katie said. HollywoodLife. “Honestly, it was a dream come true, and when they did the final line of the movie – I won’t say what it was to ruin it for anyone – but it had me in tears. I was just blown away by everything.”

Top Boss handle ground well. “I talked to the authors about the different dishes to feature, and then I talked to my co-jurors on the stages of the culinary competition. Lee Anne Wong from best chef,Katie explained. “I know Lee Anne from years ago when we were in the first season of the show. Top Boss together. So when it came time to choose my judge, I immediately thought of Lee Anne, since she lives in Hawaii. So we put him in that role and Lee Anne stepped in and did a lot of food styles for the movie. She’s a very talented stylist, so she stepped in and shaped Lacey’s meals and made them look phenomenal.”
As Katie watched her book come to life on TV, viewers said, “The power is always within you. You just have to find it. It’s always there. Surfing is really a metaphor for it and learning to get up on your own to see you have that leash connecting your ankles to the board, so you can bounce back if you fall.” I think it’s really about how sometimes losing everything you thought you wanted was exactly what you needed.”
Katie has published several cookbooks over the years, but ground well remains the only fiction novel. he said HollywoodLife “He would have loved to write another novel or screenplay. This is something I really hope to do in the future. After running the toddler around, I feel like my brain cells aren’t quite there. I couldn’t think of another story, but maybe when I start that school, I can write a novel again.”
